The key part of your tactics is Style Of Play which specifies your team’s playing style. The style of play in Online Soccer Manager (OSM) is a critical factor in determining a team's success. Teams must choose a style that suits their players' abilities and counter the opposition's tactics to have a better chance of winning.

There are five types Style of play in OSM:

1. Shoot On SIght
2. Long Ball
3. Passing Game
4. Wing Play
5. Counter Attack

Shoot On Sight

Shoot on sight is a popular phrase often used in the world of online soccer manager 2023. It is a strategy used by managers and coaches to instruct their players to take shots at the opponent's goal without hesitation. The idea behind this approach is to increase the number of chances created, leading to more goals and, ultimately, victory.

This playing style means that your team is weaker than your opponent and your main target is to shoot on goal whenever your player gets a chance to shoot rather than passing the ball to your striker. If you are expecting a lower amount of chances, this style is right for you. This style is suitable with formations with a higher number of midfielders like, 4-5-1, 4-2-3-1,3-5-2 etc. You can use this style of play against Passing Game, where you will have a smaller possession.

Long Ball

Long Ball is a popular strategy in Online Soccer Manager 2023 that involves the use of long and high passes to reach the opposing team's half. This style of play is designed to bypass the midfield and reach the attacking players as quickly as possible, giving them more time and space to create scoring opportunities.

You can use this style against a smaller opponent to score many goals. If you have fewer midfielders or low rated midfield, you can use this style. In this formation your defender will pass the ball directly to the forwards.This style of play is suitable with a higher number of forwards like, 3-3-4, 3-2-5,3-2-3-2 etc. There is a small use of midfielders in this formation. If your opponent is playing with a strong midfield or fewer defenders, you can use this formation to win the match.

Passing Game

Passing Game in Online Soccer Manager 2023 is a key aspect in the virtual soccer world where players can experience the thrill of managing a football team. The game gives players the opportunity to become the head coach and make all the important decisions for the team. One of the most important decisions that players must make is the style of play for their team.

If you have high rated midfielders, you can use this formation. Here, your defenders and midfielders will pass until they find your forwards. This passing game is always won and lost in the midfield. This style is suitable with formations with wide defense and midfield like, 4-4-2, 3-4-3, 3-5-2 etc. You can use this style against counter attack.

Wing Play

Wing Play is a tactical approach in online soccer manager 2023 where the team focuses on attacking through the wings rather than the center. This involves using fast and skillful wingers to create crossing opportunities and deliver balls into the penalty box for their forwards to finish. The aim of wing play is to stretch the opposition defense and create gaps for the attacking players to exploit.

This style is a wing based playing style. If you have high rated wingers and fullbacks, you can use this formation. In this style, the players will pass the ball to the wide players like wingers and full-backs. You should set your defenders in Attacking Full-backs in Line Tactics in this formation. Formations with wingers are suitable for Wing Play like, 4-3-3, 5-2-3, 3-2-5 etc.

Counter Attack

In Online Soccer Manager 2023, the "counter attack" tactic refers to a strategy where a team tries to quickly transition from defense to offense after regaining possession of the ball. The aim is to catch the opposing team off-guard and take advantage of their lack of organization to score goals.

If you have a weaker team than your opponent, you can use this formation. In this style of play, your players will quickly pass the ball to the forwards whenever they get the ball. This style is more suitable with defensive tactics. Formations with a high number of defenders are used for this style like, 6-3-1,5-3-2,5-3-1-1 etc. You can use this style to beat stronger teams.
