5-3-1-1 Formation: An Effective Strategy for Beating Offensive Opponents in Online Soccer Manager (OSM)

5-3-1-1 is one of the most used defensive formations in Online Soccer Manager (OSM). You can use this formation to beat the opponents who are playing an offensive game. 5-3-1-1 is a similar formation to 5-3-2. In 5-3-1-1, you have to use two CAM and a CM instead of two CMs and a CDM of 5-3-2.

First, you have to analyze our opponent’s squad before playing this formation. You can avoid this tactics if opponent is playing with–

• 4-4-2
• Shoot on sight
• Passing Game

Squad:

We must put two strikers in front. In the CM positions, you can use a CM or a CDM with a high rating and two attacking midfielders in the CAM positions. You must put three central backs in CB positions, a left back to LB position and a right back to RB position. You can use CB in LB or RB positions too. You must put our highest rated goalkeeper in GK position. Try to put 6 players of the same nationality to get the nationality bonus while playing the match.

Explaination:

In this tactic, the players will sit deep when the ball is in the opponent’s foot and let them attack. The defenders and midfielders park the bus to avoid conceding a goal. When your player will get the ball they will try to move the ball fast and counter attacks and transfer to the strikers who are waiting for the ball to come to them. Then the strikers run to the opponents D-box to score a goal. Using these tactics you may not create many chances but the conversion rate will be higher.
